How to play Lifejoo
Lifejoo is played by 2 to 6 players, with friends through a link or on your own against the computer. On your turn, you draw a card and play one: put it in your life (studies, job, love, trips…) to earn smiles, or send some bad luck to another player. When life is over, the most smiles wins.
What’s the goal of the game?
End your life with the most smiles. Every card you put in your life gives you 0 to 6 of them.
At the end, you add your secret dream bonus if it came true, and the “Full life” bonus.
How does a game start?
Each player gets 6 cards and 2 secret dreams: they keep one and hand back the other. Everyone starts at age 18.
The deck holds 139 cards, 75 different ones, sorted into 11 families.
How does a turn work?
- Draw 1 card: from the deck, or the top card of the discard pile.
- Play 1 card: put it in your life, send it to another player if it’s bad luck, or discard it.
- You always end your turn with 6 cards in hand.
In a game with friends, each turn lasts 30 seconds. After that, the computer plays that turn for you.
Which cards can you put in your life?
- Studies have no requirement. They unlock jobs.
- One job at a time: it needs a number of studies, from 0 to 5. To change jobs, play “Quit your job” on yourself or lose it to a “Fired” card.
- You can only collect pay if your job pays enough (from ★ to ★★★★). Your pay stays in your life even if you lose your job.
- Homes and trips have a cost. You pay with your pay cards: they stay in your life, marked “spent”, and their smiles still count.
- Love: as many dates as you like until you’re married. “Moving in together” and “Wedding” need a date.
- Kids need “Moving in together” or a “Wedding”, except Adoption. Pets have no requirement, except the chickens, who want a garden.
- Special cards give easy smiles or money; some are played on yourself or on another player, then go to the memories pile.
- Shields give no smiles, but they cancel some bad luck cards forever.
How does bad luck work?
A bad luck card is played on another player, and only if it actually does something to them: no “Fired” for someone without a job.
It takes away a card (job, pay, date, home, trip…) or blocks the target: they skip their next turn, but they still get older.
The card you played then goes to the memories pile, which nobody can take back.
To protect yourself, put down a shield: “Full coverage insurance” against Scooter crash, Water damage and Canceled flight; “Rock-solid contract” against Fired and Life swap; “Great therapist” against Burnout and Bad buzz; “Iron health” against Bad flu.
What’s the secret dream?
You choose your dream at the start and keep it to yourself. If it comes true by the end of your life, you get its bonus. Here are the 10 dreams in the game:
- Big family
3 kids (twins count as 2).
6 smiles - Globetrotter
3 trips.
6 smiles - Dream career
A job that needs 3 studies or more.
5 smiles - Noah’s ark
3 pets.
5 smiles - True love
Wedding and Moving in together.
5 smiles - Castle in the air
A home with cost 5 or more.
5 smiles - Free spirit
2 trips, 1 pet and no home above cost 1.
6 smiles - Social media star
Influencer and Go viral.
6 smiles - Bright mind
5 studies.
5 smiles - Heart of gold
Volunteering and Adoption, or 2 Volunteering.
6 smiles
How does age work?
Each turn you play adds some years, and a blocked turn counts too. The more players, the fewer turns each, but every turn covers more years:
| Players | Turns each | Years per turn | Age at the end |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 | 18 | 3 | 72 |
| 3 | 15 | 4 | 78 |
| 4 | 13 | 5 | 83 |
| 5 | 11 | 5 | 73 |
| 6 | 11 | 5 | 73 |
How are smiles counted at the end?
Your score = the smiles of the cards in your life + your dream bonus if it came true + “Full life”.
“Full life”: 1 smile for each family you have among studies, job, pay, love, kids, pets, home and trips, up to +8.
If there’s a tie, the most cards played wins, then the youngest player at the table (the one who plays last).
Example: Leah put down 11 cards worth 19 smiles, from 6 different families, and made her Globetrotter dream come true (+6). Score: 19 + 6 + 6 = 31 smiles.

- Streak: the number of days in a row you’ve played at least one game.
- Album: every card you play for the first time goes in (75 to find). One time in 20, it arrives shiny.

How many people can play?
From 2 to 6 players, bots included. On your own, you play against 1 to 3 bots: chill, clever or ruthless.

What’s a shiny card?
One time in 20, a card you play is shiny: it goes into your album with a special shine. It’s worth the same smiles.
